Pyramid Salt Fleur de Sel
Simply buying salt and hiding it in the kitchen cupboard would be a shame with the Fleur de Sel pyramid salt.
Every day only about 60 kilos of fleur de sel are extracted from natural seawater, which is why it is the rarest salt that the earth has to offer. On days with a lot of wind, there is a thin layer of salt on the surface of the water, which is gently skimmed off by workers on the Indian coast with wooden shovels.
It gets its pyramid-shaped appearance from the complex manufacturing process in which the salt bed from the sea water is slowly heated. Further boiling creates cubes that connect at the edges and gradually create hollow pyramids. If these pyramids are big enough, they are lifted from the surface of the water and dried.
The salt looks crispy and if you touch the crystals with your tongue, they melt and develop their full aroma. But be careful, they taste very salty, which is why you should hold back when seasoning your dishes. The flakes taste slightly bitter, but the fleur de sel is still soft like other Mediterranean salts.
You can use pyramid salt in the kitchen for cooking. Thanks to its special shape, it can be used as finger salt or finishing salt. The pyramid flakes are of course also a special eye-catcher if you use them to garnish your dishes or for decoration.
